Description: Rare 19th century handcrafted Zanzibar chest
with brass metal overlay and brass mounts. The
antique trunk is comprised of solid … more Rare 19th century handcrafted Zanzibar chest
with brass metal overlay and brass mounts. The
antique trunk is comprised of solid carved teak
wood and features a hinged lid. The interior is
fitted with a candle box on the upper right side.
The chest is adorned with pierced brass metal
sheets and brass studs throughout, creating a
series of geometric and Moorish inspired
patterns. Exquisitely detailed with magnificent
craftsmanship. The chest features three bottom
drawers and is fitted with brass carrying handles.
Originally used for travels and often for the
exports of goods.
