Lovely, handpainted Minton small platter or underplate with a detailed polychromatic transferware design. The size is perfect for serving crudité, asparagus, broccoli, or other slender foods. The center cartouche has a oculus motif; the rim a vaguely Egyptian Revival theme so popular in the 19th century.
The Mintons BB backstamp suggests fabrication between 1873 - 1884, the incised date cypher narrows it down to 1875.
Condition is very good with appropriate wear from age and use. Brilliant colors; hairline crack in border, chip on foot, and some finish loss on edges.
