A large and colorful matching mirror pair of Chinese cloisonné jars with from the 1980’s. They are highly decorative and will look great together.
Two heavy metal ginger jars and their lids have been coated in brass wire and filled in with colorful enamels. The body is covered in a blue enamel with brass wires forming clouds. The designs amidst this background are of flowers and butterflies. The flowers are chrysanthemums in three different colors. The lids have a matching pink chrysanthemum design. The workmanship is very good and there is very good shading in the enamel colors. The mouth and raised foot of the jars is a band of brass. The bases are enameled in a turquoise enamel.
MEASUREMENTS
8 ¼” (21.0 cm) diameter x 10” (25.4 cm) tall. Weighs 9 lbs 11 oz (4400 g)
CONDITION
One lid has a small concussion mark outside and the inside of the same lid has damages to the turquoise enamel. The other lid has a slightly rough spot on the shoulder. One jar has a very small spot just above the shoulder where the enamel is slightly rough. The other jar has no enamel losses. There is very light pitting to the enamels but overall they are very even, smooth and the colors are bright and fresh. There is authentic wear to the copper on the foot ring and the lid rims where they have rubbed on surfaces.
