The center of the plate decorated with a spray of flowers within a blue and gilt inner border, the outer border decorated with trailing flowers and foliage, the gilt rim with molded scalloped decoration. The base with red Factory mark of a Crown above the letters H & Co , with words below “ England - Burley & Co - Chicago”.

The Hammersley porcelain factory was founded in 1887 in Longton, Staffordshire and the Firm of Burley & Co in Chicago were importers of china and glassware being founded in 1883 and in 1923 the firm was sold to Albert Pick & Co. These Dessert plates may have originally possibly have been part of a larger dessert service with comports and serving dishes.
