Artist Details:
Fabienne Jouvin graduated from The Superior School of Applied Arts, Duperré in 1985. She lives and works in both Paris and Provence. Through her extensive travels in cities as far flung as Tokyo, Havana, the streets of Paris or the sea beds of the Maldives, she gathers material for her sketchbooks: hispanic or contemporary architecture, frescos by Piero Della Francesca, enigmatic fragments or unidentified objects.
Synthesized in her imagination, they give rise to unique creations, paintings, textiles, porcelain, cloisonne…..
Her works have been featured by The Fashion Foundation of Tokyo. Jouvin established a close collaboration with exceptional craftsmen in Limoges, Paris, Provence and the far-off borders of Mongolia. She relishes the opportunity of matching her talents with their technical excellence and sharing a common experience with them far from the comfort of her workshop. Since 1996, Jouvin has been associated with Asiatides, which offered her the opportunity of experimenting with specific techniques developed in Thailand and China: the manufacture of porcelain, both painted and chased, the "grain of rice" motif, engraved glass and above all, her preferred specialty, cloisonne.
In 2008, Jouvin became an instructor with The Arts of Fashion Foundation, San Francisco, transmitting her long years of experience to young designers the world over.
In her own words, Jouvin likes "to play with anachronisms and correspondences, to match colors, either in rough patches or with precision of observation, to mix austerity and humor, rigor and spontaneity.
This tea caddy is a characteristic example of Jouvin's graphic sophistication, her formal discipline, her restrained color palette, her varied orthogonal structures that create rhythm and visual interest. less
