The model MR20 Arm Chair is perhaps one of the most important modern furniture designs of the 20th century. Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, master architect, designed this cantilevered tubular steel arm chair in 1927.
We know these chairs are authentic Knoll because a partial production label (from 1970s) remains attached to the underside of the leather seat. Please see photo which shows a comparison to a label from a similar Knoll chair where the same printed format and some abbreviations can be clearly seen proving the Knoll pedigree. Knoll eventually added an engraved name and signature, but our chairs are from earlier production. These chairs are extremely high quality examples and we believe are superior to later periods in Knoll’s production including the more recent production. The fantastic original leather is the thickest saddle leather we have ever seen! The chromed steel frames are heavy and constructed precisely.
