- Vintage: C.1960's-70's Maison Jansen, forged in Italy is this , polished brass and satin stainless nickel combination amongst this iconic … more Vintage: C.1960's-70's Maison Jansen, forged in Italy is this , polished brass and satin stainless nickel combination amongst this iconic ram head and hoover magazine holder/rack. A lovely and sturdy ensemble piece, for any interior domain, with noble style and panache, which does not defray nor detract from the uppermost funtionality as key to nay good furniture and accessory designs. Form and Function prevails, along with the material utilized in the construction and production of this gorgeous piece. Polished brass amongst the scintillating details of ram heads, acorns and hooves, while the skeletal x-mitered mainframe, comprised of brushed nickel, all with a coved or curved removable brass insert upon which to rest magazines or a book along the floating section. X-mitered details to this piece, are also a nod to these period pieces from cocktail tables, end/side tables, planter stands, consoles, etc. Pieces by Jansen were made in France and in Italy, but predominantly the cocktail tables and ensemble piece(s) made with brass and nickel were forged in Italy, beyond the sticker(s) which sometimes are affixed to pieces like this, as image indicates. Maker's mark sticker affixed to frame backside of magazine holder along and on one of the brushed nickel columns. Branding was relied upon larger pieces. and sometimes underneath a hoof the provenance of the country the piece was made was engraved. less
