Details:
This gorgeous table top runner is handcrafted with a vintage 19th Century fabric. It boasts an authentic Antique pattern of crane birds, flowers and pine weaving hand embroidered style textile made of natural silk, and richly metallic threads.
Silk is tightly woven into the fabric of Japanese art and culture. While silk has been used in Japanese textiles since the 5th century. Silk first came to Japan via Korea in the 4th Century, but was revolutionized with new weaving processes in Kyoto in the nineteenth century. These woven textiles fashioned in Kyoto’s Nishijin district are known as Nishijin-ori, or Nishijin textiles. This is the highest quality silk product available in Japan because of their high quality and deep history and are used to create the best quality kimono fabric and obi, as well as wallets and purses, costumes for noh theatre, and festival decorations. One modern company that has been weaving Nishijin silk textiles since the Meiji Restoration is Tatsumura Textile. They have produced products for Emperor Hirohito himself and are valued as the great modern weavers of Nishijin Ori.
Double decorated with a crocheted lace trim in gold and white colors all along the edges, giving to this runner an extra exquisite touch.
Topped with double fringes in Metallic Gold and Crystal Beaded, professionally sewn stand out on both ends.
Fully lined with Rubelli Mikado in salmon peach color, combining perfectly with the ensemble.
This table runner is made using three layers of materials: a top layer which is the embroidery silk fabric, a bottom layer which is a camel gold velvet fabric and one layer of fusible interfacing that is sandwiched between the top and bottom layers.
