Yes, that means you can serve the sauce hot from the stove, and then place the pot on top of the lid to guard your furniture from the heat of the pot. This pot is known as the sauce pot or fondue pot. The sides are angled inward to keep sauces from boiling over, and have a ledge that functions as a rest for fondue sticks while they cook their magic.
