- Very nice preowned condition, the heavily figured rosewood retains all of its beauty and luster and has aged incredibly well. … moreVery nice preowned condition, the heavily figured rosewood retains all of its beauty and luster and has aged incredibly well. Some surface marks and scuffs can be seen, all typical of age and use. The chair feet show heavier wear in a few spots. One of the vertical rails has started to split around the brass retention hardware at one of the bottom rail connections, please see the last few photos for detailed close-ups. A few tenon connections between the rails have also loosened and should be reglued and clamped (second to last photo.) The chair is structurally sound and displays beautifully but should be professionally restored if it is to be used as functional seating. The leather sling seat and back shows heavy patina and scratches with areas of heavier wear and distress at some of the stress points, all typical of age and use. The last few photos show these areas well. It looks like the leather sling was remounted at some point. We had the leather professionally treated and conditioned, it has softened a bit but remains on the stiffer side. All the brass hardware shows heavy patina. As we place some of our items with film and television period productions (who value authentic patina, distress and age) we have left this chair in the original, as-found condition. This chair could use a thorough cleaning and detailing if it is to be used in the home. Please review all the detailed photos as we have made an effort to show all the imperfections. less
