This is an oil on canvas painting of a bar scene by Kansas City artist, Robert Kalthoff. The previous owner of the piece stated that the scene depicts two guys meeting at a gay bar in Kansas in the 1960s. Displayed in a wood frame and signed '66 Kaltholl on lower left and Bob Halthoff on verso.

Kalthoff—born in 1936, and a graduate of the Kansas City Art Institute in 1964—excelled at painting Classicalist-inspired Impressionist scenes of casually posed fit young men, with his less common yet most evocative works depicting them au naturel in nature. less
