Binga baskets, also commonly called Tonga baskets, are traditional grain winnowing baskets handmade by the Batonga people in the Binga district of Zimbabwe; the BaTonga tribe in Zambia and Zimbabwe are very closely related with a shared border. This basket was made in the Munyumbwe area of Zambia. The BaTonga tribe's baskets are always very sturdy and strong based on a double walled weaving style. These baskets are also still used to carry harvested grains back from the fields for families to prepare food.
