This jar has a classic round foot that helped with ease of storage when being transported in a ship. Generally these vessels were used to hold wine, olive oil, fish sauce and perfumes. It is in very good shape with a rough exterior patina and partial glaze remains. This is a sturdy jar that appears to be made of terra cotta with aged deterioration to the glaze and surface but not weakened. No cracks or breaks found. Flea bites to the opening rim and small "bubble" type raised areas where the glaze has come off. This is a gorgeous antiquity that would make a fabulous display or decorative item. Measures approximately 10" tall x 5" from handle-to-handle. Please look over the photographs provided to see the condition details up close. less
