Chinoiserie originated in the beginning of the 17th century in Europe. The word derives from “chinois,” which is French for “Chinese.” At the time, English and Italian designers and craftsmen sought to imitate the fanciful, decorative style of Chinese arts.
European interpretations of these Chinese styles first appeared in interior design, furniture, pottery, and porcelain. Interpretations also surfaced in fine art, seen in the paintings of French artists like Antoine Watteau and Francois Boucher. Details:
Made of a premium quality 100% cotton Schumacher White Jade Collection fabric with a satin finish. It has a rich Chinese red, gold, black and off-white background.
The reverse side stands out with a luxurious solid and soft black suede, combining perfectly with the ensemble.
Piping or Cording, PROFESSIONALLY handcrafted, are sewn on both edges: A lovely gold twist trim matching with the fabric embellished this design with a luxury and special touch. I put my labor at the junction of the cord that the pipping looks like a continuous visual line (no end) on the outside of the seam and instead do NOT see TWO LINES (two ends). The corners of this square design are round.
In addition it is adorned with a silky Tassel Fringe in black color, matching perfectly with the ensemble.

To make ZIPPERED pillows with an envelope opening: I have sewn a matching zipper (2 inches shorter) near to the bottom of the back side and made a stitch trim so that the fabric will be held in place and not be caught in the zipper teeth. A zipper closure in the back of a pillow keeps the pillow cover on the pillow form but allows it to be removed for easy laundering.
