A Japanese bronze hand mirror with lacquer box
Late 19th century, bronze circular mirror with reed wrapped handle, mirror is decorated in low relief with pine, bamboo, a pair of cranes, and long tailed turtle, all symbols in Japanese culture for longevity, inscribed to left hand side, reverse is smooth, black lacquer box has been cleaned up a bit, but has not loss of box and stores the piece nicely
The Lacquer box measures 8.25 x.12.75 x 1".
