- Louis Chalon b. 1866, French, circa 1900. Bronze Table Lamps both marked "L. Chalon" at base side. Art Nouveau. Set … more Louis Chalon b. 1866, French, circa 1900. Bronze Table Lamps both marked "L. Chalon" at base side. Art Nouveau. Set weighs 6 lbs. 11.1oz. Base has felt. Electric cord w/ switch 10' long. Ivory silk damask shades. Ivory sleeve. In addition to being a successful sculptor, Chalon was an illustrator and a painter. He began exhibiting at the Salon in 1887 and studied under Lefebvre and Boulanger at the École des Beaux-Arts, winning several medals throughout his career. He also illustrated numerous books, including works by Balzac, Bobbaccio and Rabelais. Chalon’s illustrations appeared in the periodicals La Vie Parisienne, L’Illustration and Figaro Illustre. less
