A mid 19th century wooden box grained to resemble the rare Asian wood calamander. Pewter edging and pewter decorative insets embellish the outside. The interior is fitted with a lap desk and other compartments including a secret drawer. There is a hand written pencil note on the back of the secret drawer dated 1867. Overall good antique condition with light wear, small imperfections.
