These were … more Offered is a mid 20th Century (circa 1950s) hand-carved Mahogany wood figural nutcracker depicting a nubile reclining woman. These were novelty bar-ware items made in the South Seas, African countries, as well as by wood-whittlers in France, Italy, Germany and England. While the size and mechanism of these carvings tend to be the same, no two are exactly alike, which is why it is difficult to identify these novelty items that were made by artisans. This one still bears its original label adhered on the rear, albeit illegible.
