This painting was created by Olympic discus thrower Al Oerter for charity for the 1980 Olympics. At this time, he developed the technique of pouring paint onto the canvas and then throwing his discus at the pooled-up paint to create a splatter all over the canvas. He utilized that technique in this painting, there is a tear in the canvas from where the discus hit the canvas, and there is pooled up paint in the same area. less
