This David Hockney rare vintage 1979 lithograph print custom framed large exhibition poster " Sun, From The Weather Series " 1973, is an incredibly special and unique piece to add to your collection.
The lithograph print poster is published by Gemini Gel, courtesy Petersburg Press, printed in England in 1979 in an unnumbered limited edition on the occasion of The Scottish Arts Council touring exhibition " Hockney Prints 1965-77 ". It features an artwork image originally created by Hockney in 1973 titled " Sun, From The Weather Series ", copyright David Hockney 1973.

David Hockney ( B. 1937 ) is an English painter, draftsman, printmaker, stage designer, and photographer. He is an important contributor to The Pop Art Movement of the 1960's. He is considered one of the most influential British artists of The Twentieth Century. His artworks have commanded greater popular acclaim than any other Contemporary British artist. The Pop Art Expressionist style artworks have been the subject of more than 400 solo exhibitions. Art works by Hockney are included in the collections of many of the world's most prestigious museums.
On his first visit to Japan in 1971, Hockney saw an exhibition at The Municipal Gallery of Kyoto of 19th Century Japanese woodblock prints. There he saw stylized depictions of weather conditions, especially rain, in Japanese Art that fascinated him and in 1973 he began work on his own series of weather artworks.
In the large scale Weather Series works, Hockney evokes the atmospheric effects and lighting conditions of weather with his own unique use of visual inventiveness. The series included Sun, Rain, Mist, Lightning, Snow, and Wind. Here in the " Sun " artwork brilliant sunshine pouring in through a window is found in strips of golden yellow laid over a background of lemon yellow and blue.
The rare out of print lithograph print large format framed exhibition poster measures 28 1/4" W X 39 1/2" H X 1 1/2" D. It is custom framed with UV protective plexiglass in a Contemporary Modern charcoal gray matte eggshell finish museum box style wood frame molding, with an attached hanging wire on the reverse back side for easy wall installation.
It is in excellent " like new " condition. The poster print is excellent " like new " very clean vintage condition with very light signs of handling.
