What an impossibly cool Mid-Century Moderne Lucite-decorated floor lamp! I’m partial to Lucite when properly (artistically) employed, and I am quite partial to this lamp!
I’ve fitted the lamp with new electrical parts, which are brush nickel-plated and of high quality (solid brass). The sockets swivel so the bulbs have 180-degrees of potential movement (9 o’clock to 3 o’clock).
Use any size bulbs you want.
The base has a heavy iron weight under the decorative cover, and that metal cover is made of polished and plated steel -- which has recently been re-plated in chrome, and is in near-perfect condition. The black Lucite decorative element on top of the chrome sends me over the moon. As for the age of this lamp, I’m guessing that it was made somewhere between 1945 and 1970. It’s got all the elements of “old.” Put a black shade on this lamp and you have some serious Decorator Power!
Measurements: 59 ½ inches high. The tube emanating from the top of the socket cluster, which holds the shade, can easily be replaced -- shortened or lengthened -- depending on the dimensions of the shade you choose to install. The base is about 10 ½ inches in diameter. As you can see in a couple of the photos, there are little chips on the bottom of (3) of the yellow pieces. One other might have had another chip which was glued back into place (?) – it’s hardly noticeable. You'll only see these divots if you look for them, and the compromised pieces can always be turned to the rear.
