This " Degas : Library of Great Painters " rare vintage 1951 first edition lithograph print collector's Edgar Degas large hardcover Impressionist art book is a very special and unique book to add to your library collection.
The hardcover book with yellow linen covered boards and transparent hard vellum plastic dust jacket is published by Harry N. Abrams Publishers, New York. Printed and bound in 1951 in The United States by W. Wolff Book Manufacturing Co, New York, color plates executed under the direction of Thames & Hudson London, New York, color lithograph printing by John P. Smith Co., Rochester. It features a monograph survey of the artworks of Edgar Degas, authored by Daniel Catton Rich, Milton S. Fox editor.
Edgar Degas ( 1834 - 1917 ) was a French born artist known best for his pastel drawings and oil paintings of dancers. Although Degas is considered as one of the founders of Impressionism, he rejected the term, preferring to be called a Realist. Artworks by Degas are included in the collections of many of the world's most prestigious museums.
The rare out of print 1st edition large format hardcover Impressionist art book measures 10" W X 13" H X 1" D, with 129 pages. It features 50 full color lithograph print hand tipped illustration plates including the cover, and 19 additional black & white halftone illustrations.
