Named for King Richard the Lion Hearted, this pattern was inspired by the rich architectural decoration of old English mansions. Introduced in 1932, the design appears to be deeply carved so the details stand out clearly, offsetting the central ornamental shield mimicking those carried by knights during the crusades and the pointed oval top and neck framed in curling leaves.
