This Louisiana Museum of Modern Art Denmark rare vintage first edition Mid Century Modern lithograph print collector's art book is an incredibly special and unique book to add to your library collection.
The " Pictorial Reportage " softcover book with hard paperboard covers is published by The Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Humlebaek Denmark. Printed in Denmark in 1979 in an unnumbered limited edition by Grafodan Offset, Vaerlose. It features a visual survey of the Danish Mid Century Modernist architectural facility, grounds, environment, and collection of one of the most important Modern Art museums in the world.
This is a rare opportunity for Modern Art and Mid Century Modernist collectors and fans both as this beautifully printed volume is long out of print and very scarce to find.
Louisiana opened as a museum for Modern Art in 1958. The original idea was that it should be a centre for people interested in art ; a meeting place in beautiful surroundings, right on the sound, where Danish art and design could be experienced in a setting of Contemporary Danish architecture. As art movements became increasingly international the museum realized that its task was both to exhibit 20th Century Art as well as to build a collection of works created after 1950.
Today The Louisiana Museum of Modern Art stands as a leader of Modern and Contemporary Art museums with one of the most impressive and important collections to be seen anywhere in the world.
This book gives a view into the famous museum, its collections and activities. Rather than enlarge upon all that Louisiana stands for in a longer text, this pictorial reportage prefers to let the images speak for themselves.
Included in the book are artworks by many internationally known artists including Henry Moore, Alexander Calder, Jean Arp, Giacometti, Yves Klein, Jim Dine, Karel Appel, Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtensetin, Josef Albers, Richard Mortensen, Morris Louis, Victor Vasarely, Auguste Herbin, Martial Raysse, Kenneth Noland, and Ellsworth Kelly among many others.
The rare out of print Mid Century Danish Modern art book measures 8 1/2" W X 10 3/8" H X 3/8" D, with 96 pages. It features 131 offset lithograph print illustrations in color and black & white.
It is in excellent vintage condition consistent with age, light signs of handling, and very light minor wear. Please see photos for condition reference. It is now being offered here for an excellent price. less
