Description: This stunning Art Deco pattern was first made by the Louie Glass Company in the 1930’s as a wink and … more This stunning Art Deco pattern was first made by the Louie Glass Company in the 1930’s as a wink and nod to Harpo Marx, one of the famous Marx Brothers, whose comic films are epic.
The tumblers and pitcher have a frolic ripple shape in the breathtaking cobalt blue color. The pitcher has an awesome transparent swirled handle and a beautiful ice lip.
History: Louie Wohinc, an immigrant from Austria, founded the company in Weston, West Virginia. He died in 1950 and his daughter managed the company until 1972. This was unusual for a woman at this time to take on this responsibility in the glass industry. The business changed ownership several times (Princess House, Colgate-Palmolive, Glass Works West Virginia), until in July 2003 it was permanently closed.
