Early to Mid 20th. Century Old Chinese Wood Box used for giving gifts during weddings / festivals or celebrations. This hand painted rectangular box has a bright green inside with two 'gold' characters. The outside is primarily black, red and brown.
The large character on the front of the box means happiness.
If you look carefully at the top of the happiness character, you'll see the makers name and address - roughly translated Hong Toi Company, Sui Hong St, Hong Kong. Most unusual to see this.
The characters inside the box could be someone's name, the top character reads yellow.
An intriguing box that can be used or displayed.
