This Karel Appel (NY/France/Italy/Switzerland 1921-2006 ) signed (in the plate) vintage 1960's abstract Mid Century Modern custom framed silkscreen ( a.k.a. serigraph) print depicts an abstracted rhinoceros and monkey rendered in Appel's iconic style. It is an original design was printed on one side only in an unnumbered limited edition in the 1960's. Housed in a modern matte black wooden frame with UV resistant glass. Karel Appel ( 1921 - 2006 ) the Dutch born painter, sculptor, and poet began painting at the age of fourteen, and studied at the world famous Rijksakademie in Amsterdam in the 1940's. he was one of the founders of the Avant - Garde movement Cobra in the 1940's. he is considered to be one of the most important Modernist Avant - Garde artists of The 20th Century. Artworks by Appel are included in the collections of MOMA as well as many other prestigious museums and private collections worldwide.
