This Sonia Delaunay rare vintage 1977 Modernist lithograph print custom framed " Les Simultanes " Paris exhibition poster is an incredibly special and unique piece to add to your collection.
The lithograph print Modernist poster is published by Artcurial for The Centra D'Art Plastique Contemporain, printed in France in October 1977 in an unnumbered limited edition by R.C. Paris on the occasion of the " Les Simultanes " exhibition.
Sonia Delaunay ( 1885 - 1979 ) Born Sarah Llintchna Stern, was a Jewish Ukrainian born French artist, who spent most of working life in Paris. She was formally trained in Russia and Germany before moving to France and expanding her practice to include textile, fashion, and set design. She co-founded The Orphism Art Movement, known for its use of strong colors and geometric shapes, with her husband and artist Robert Delaunay and others.
She was the first living female artist to have a retrospective exhibition at The Louvre Museum in Paris in 1964, and in 1975 was named an officer of The French Legion of Honor. Delaunay's work in Modern Design included concepts of Geometric Abstraction, and the integration of furniture, fabrics, wall coverings, and clothing into her oeuvre of art practices.
The rare out of print framed Modernist exhibition poster print measures 24 1/4" W X 32 1/4" H X 1" D. It is custom framed with UV protective plexiglass in a Contemporary Modern satin finish black metal frame molding, with an attached hanging wire on the reverse back side for easy wall installation.
It is in excellent condition. The poster print is in excellent vintage condition consistent with age and light signs of handling. There is some light to moderate visible surface wear from age in the background border areas. It is brand newly custom framed and has never been displayed. Please see photos for condition reference.
