This David Hockney rare vintage 1975 lithograph print custom framed Paris exhibition poster "Jacques De Bascher De Beaumarchais " 1973, is an incredibly special and unique piece to add to your collection.
The lithograph print poster is published by The Galerie Claude Bernard Paris, printed in France in 1975 by Imp. Dermont - Paris, in an unnumbered limited edition on the occasion of the " Dessins et Gravures " exhibition. It features an artwork image originally created by Hockney in 1973 titled " Jacques De Bascher De Beaumarchais ".
David Hockney ( B. 1937 ) is an English painter, draftsman, printmaker, stage designer, and photographer. He is an important contributor to The Pop Art Movement of the 1960's. He is considered one of the most influential British artists of The 20th Century. His artworks have commanded greater popular acclaim than any other Contemporary British artist. The Pop Art Expressionist style artworks have been the subject of more than 400 solo exhibitions. Art works by Hockney are included in the collections of many the world's most prestigious museums.
This portrait of Jacques De Bascher De Beaumarchais depicts the young Parisian dandy leaning back in a green armchair, his blue tie pulled loose from a striped shirt. Nicknamed " Jacques De Quelque Chose " by David Hockney, De Beaumarchais was a French aristocrat and the former companion of Karl Lagerfeld. Hockney drew several portraits of De Beaumarchais, deftly capturing the rakish socialite's flamboyant style and signature pencil-thin mustache.
Hockney has been an avid portraitist throughout his career, drawing and painting subjects ranging from his mother to Celia Birtwell, his muse over many decades, to art dealer Larry Gagosian and artists such as John Baldessari. he often depicts his models seated relaxed in an armchair, as seen in this portrait here.
The rare out of print framed Paris exhibition poster print measures 19" W X 26 3/8" H X 1" D. It is custom framed with UV protective plexiglass in a Contemporary Modern avocado pistachio green matte eggshell finish wood frame molding, with an attached hanging wire on the revers back side for easy wall installation.
