This beautiful original, signed block print, titled, "Excursion," was created by Ronald Peter Penkoff in 1961. It is a reflection of Penkoff's talent as an artist by his use of composition paired with amazing skills in print making. Penkoff studied in the US, and Paris, France. He developed an expertise in Japanese print making and appreciated the influence this genre had on so many things in art and architecture. He was a professor of art with various academic institutions during his teaching tenure, including universities in New York, Indiana, and Wisconsin. Along the way, he produced beautiful works inspired by nature, that which he was most comfortable in during his life.
This piece of art reflects many things from which Penkoff drew his inspiration. His use of brown washes along with block printings added even more dimension to his work.
Framed in an ornate gold frame, the presentation of this piece offers a juxtasposition deserving of such a wonderful MCM original.

The only, "imperfections" would be the aging of the paper. The original black used in the block print and the brown-hue wash are very much holding their depth. The area near the title, signature and date that might be seen as water damage is in fact, bleed from the brown was used in the piece. less
