ABOUT THE ARTIST
Paul Olsen was a renowned artist on the SF scene from it's hey day in the 1960's His art is featured in Star Trek, and on posters and album covers for famous rock artists such as Robin Trower.
He received repeated coverage in Herb Caen's column in the San Francisco Chronicle, many of which revolved around his "Explosion Paintings" wherein he would glop paint around a firecracker on a canvas, light the thing, and run away! The resultant colorful paintings were very popular as a send-up of "pop" art, which Paul was quite into.
He was guest of honor on the Gypsy Rose Lee show where he exploded paint all over the studio AND on Gypsy, who screamed with delight.
There is a message on the back of the art says " A giftie for Susan.. The girl who really knocks me out I hope this will always give you pleasure, Baby,
Love, Paul"
This is confirmed as authentic by the artist, Susan was an old girlfriend.
