- RARE examples mid-century art from Vietnam dating back to 1962. One painting depicts a very lonely and bored girl smoking … more RARE examples mid-century art from Vietnam dating back to 1962. One painting depicts a very lonely and bored girl smoking in a cafe and the second painting features the same girl dressed in the traditional Vietnamese "ao dai" dress. This style is very reminiscent of mid century era French artists Charles Levier and Antoine Villard Colors are dramatic with high contrast conveying a rather moody and introspective quality. Signed "K Ngan" and dated '62 on the bottom right corners. One of the two paintings also has the framing shop's stamp from Saigon on the back side. Very rare modernist art from Vietnam! less
