Attributed to André Sornay, a French designer/maker born in Lyon, France in 1902- 2000.
He was the son and grandson of a manufacturer of furniture originally founded in 1868.
Sornay joined Lyon art school before taking over the family business after his father's death in 1919 when he was just 17. At that time he was designated to take over as head of the factory.
Sornay's works appeared at many of the Salon d’automne's, Salon de l’ameublement in Lyon,
as well as the Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs Industriels et Modernes” in Paris.
He completely revolutionized production in the factory going from copies of classical furniture to creating and designing furniture with resolutely modern lines.
