Did you Know?
Culver Ltd. aka Culver Glass was founded in Brooklyn, New York in 1939 by Irving Rothenberg. The company produced over 75 glassware patterns but is best known for its glassware patterns featuring 22 carat gold gilding. From the 1940s through the 1950s, the Culver signature was featured on all its glassware in script. The mark was changed to block lettering in the 1960s and in the 1970s, the company changed to gold foil labels carrying the Culver signature. In 1980, the company moved to downtown Rahway, New Jersey and stopped producing its gold overlay pieces. In addition, the company ceased production of glass making and began using glassware blanks produced by other companies. In the mid-1990s, the company was sold to Moderne Glass Company. less
