Superbly handcrafted 1973 abstract wood wall art sculpture panel by French artist Maxime Tendero (1927-1998). Mounted on a wood plank covered with gray jute, the Cherrywood sculpted panel features a very stylized dancing woman with beautiful detailing and modernist-inspired flair. Lovely natural warm wood color. Engraved signature on the bottom right corner "Tendero - 73".

About:
Maxime Tendero (1927-1998) was born in Givors, his parents were of Spanish origin. Before he dedicated his life to his art, he had various occupations: draftsman in textiles in Castres, then an architect’s companies in Toulouse, Paris, and Carcassonne. Spontaneously and intuitively dedicated to sculpture since childhood, he is in this field, a passionate autodidact. Because of health problems, he chose to devote himself to sculpture in 1964. He worked alone, first in Carcassonne, then nearby Nice from 1968.
The human body, especially the feminine is omnipresent, including in the most abstract forms, revealed by some suggestive detail or movement.
The sculptor fixes without compromise the refined and idealized form in the nudity of the textures: the smoothest of the vein for the marble and the wood of the fruit trees.
Hymn to the plenitude and incessant desire for flight, the work of Maxime Tendero says originally and singularly the harmonious connivance between the matter and the spirit.
