Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear. This piece did not originally have a distressed finish, but we have used what was happening naturally in use and aging and helped create a beautiful patinated finish. The front of the headboard is framed with gold painted trim… It’s absolutely stunning!! It came with a magnificent bedroom set, (which we are also selling and listed here separately if the pieces are all still available,) Did you know… for ancient people, meander patterns had a deep meaning and symbolized the flow of human life: the meander pattern symbolized eternity achieved through reproduction, i.e., the disappearance of something old and the birth of something new. The Union National Furniture Co. of Jamestown, NY., was formed in 1939 from the National Furniture Co., which had been in business since the early 1890’s. Both companies were owned and operated by the Nord family. The Nords made quality high-end furniture. Union National catered to many famous people including William Holden, Jerry Lewis, Lucile Ball, Wayne Newton, and others. The furniture was expensive and brings top dollar to current day. All furniture by Union National was made of quality hardwoods and painted pieces were done by highly skilled artists, such as C. Gaeto. Union National Furniture closed their doors in 1994.
