Unique hand carved designs on this lovely antique French cabinet, in a versatile size and style.
Full length upper door has distinctive carvings (surely this was commissioned) on the three panels. Left and right panels have carved warrior/soldier cameo medallions, with each facing the center, having a carved fruit urn above and French scrolls and foliate surrounding.
Center door panel has ornately carved oval with center cameo flanked by winged sea creatures!
Carved ‘fish scale’ designs to both sides of the front, continuing completely down the legs.
Two drawers, each having carved winged serpents and dimensional lion masks to either side.
Large open lower area, perfect for display and storage.
Well built by craftsmen of the period.
c1890.
