A pair of antique, late 18th-century, c. 1780 French side chairs, with oval balloon backs, carved floral designs at top … more A pair of antique, late 18th-century, c. 1780 French side chairs, with oval balloon backs, carved floral designs at top and front of seat, and tapered, fluted legs in the Louis XVI style. Silk upholstery in a pale champagne and gold rope twist and floral spring design - a later upholstery, possibly early 20th-century. The upholstery on the seats is frayed with light marks, and the guimp is pulling away on a back rest to the left. There looks to have been some early repairs to the wood, especially on the back rests. Loss to the gilt, throughout. 22.5" wide x 24" deep x 37.5" high; 17" seat height. less
