- This is an extraordinary chair, with unusual design perhaps best fitting with Prairie style. It was acquired from the estate … more This is an extraordinary chair, with unusual design perhaps best fitting with Prairie style. It was acquired from the estate of a world traveler, now deceased and no longer able to tell the provenance. The wood frame with its unusual angles is oak, recently refinished. The upholstery is very recent, in a tapestry with tribal designs of the sort seen both among Native Americans and in the Middle East. Extremely sturdy and comfortable. It appears to be rather old -- early 20th century if indeed it was intended to be Prairie style -- because of the signs of age at the bottom of the feet less
