This two piece sculpture has a green/brown metallic "lizard skin" raku glaze and inset glowing holographic images of machine parts. The last picture is a gallery setting.

ABOUT THIS WORK
This series consists of raku fired clay that was hand molded into clean looking organic/geometric shapes that were designed to contrast with the high-tech holography. The holograms were custom made for this project and are three-dimensional images of old machine parts that were collected from a now defunct scrap yard.

The images are recorded on thin plastic film and are archival. These are reflection holograms, and a single halogen or LED spot light placed above and in front of the piece gives the best image clarity. In diffused light the holograms will still be visible and glowing, but the imagery will be less distinct.

The ceramic has been hand made in custom molds which are then glazed and fired in an outdoor kiln. less
