Born in the first half of the 19th century, most likely Italian or French origin, the intricately detailed exterior features high relief winged angel mask carvings, acanthus foliate scroll flourish and openwork ornamentation, original forged iron hinges and hook closures, opening to reveal a fitted interior with worn red silk lining.

A superb example, it makes for a rare and fascinating decorative object, conversational curiosity, or thoughtful gift idea.

With a circular base, tapered body, and round platform top, it also makes for a unique religious relic display pedestal, lift, or Santos stand.
