Circa Very Early 20th Century. … more This Really is a Great Looking Antique American Blue Decorated Stoneware Wine & Liquor Jug. Circa Very Early 20th Century. Nice Smaller 1/2 Gallon Size. It is Rendered in the Classic " Little Brown Jug " Form - Style. The front is Decorated with the New York Merchants Name - Reads as Follows PEEKSKILL WINE & LIQUOR CO. PEEKSKILL N. Y. Back in the day these type of jugs were on loan to customers from Dry Goods & Grocery Stores, Liquor and Other Assorted Retail Establishments Etc. as They Could be Used and Refilled. It is in Very Good Condition with No Cracks - No Repairs - Displays Nicely. It Does Have Small Chips Around the Top Rim Perimeters But These are Quite Normal - Are to to be Expected with This Type of Utilitarian Stoneware. It Also has a Brown Glaze Kiln Imperfections - Drip that would have Occurred in the Making - Firing Process.
It Measures 8 3/4 Inches Tall x 5 1/2 Inches Long - Wide.
