This funky sweet thing hails from the mid-century; made in the People’s Republic of China (label is long gone). Rustic charm which will perfectly complement any “flavor” of farmhouse chic you may embrace. Handcrafted frame is bamboo, while the body is made from rattan in an over and under weave; vintage iron pull handle tops it off. There is an upper mesh screen on the front door, which opens like a drawbridge and is secured by a metal loop latch. On the interior, there is a canvas-like lining on both sides with the rest of the interior is framed in solid wood. I picked it up at a vintage store many years ago and do believe it was actually made to be a carrier for a small animal. Structurally sound and in overall in excellent condition with wear that is normal for a basket of its age. It measures 10½” high including the handle; without the handle 9”; It’s 12¾” deep and 6” wide; interior space is 7¼” x 4½” x 11¾” H/W/D; weight 1 lb. 14 oz.. Colors are naturally aged bamboo and rattan with a center stripe of faded blue all around (see photos). Unique and different and a perfect basket for a basket aficionado or the perfect gift for someone who is!
