The sculpture is created in the manner of German Artist Kathe Kollwitz. The sculpture is executed in cast resin and has what appears to be either a simulated or actual travertine base. The sculpture with base weight 7.5 pounds. The sculpture is signed but I can't make out the signature. It may be "Kollowitz" or "Kouowyr" or something else. Please see the enlarged signature to come to your own conclusion. There is a date of "69" and a maker's mark of "SC" with a copyright mark.
Compositionally there are a series of figures at different scales and forms of repose. This piece is visual distorted to show an inner turmoil and perhaps fear so as to showcase a dramatic, revolutionary interpretation of the human condition. Each surface is heavily wrought and deeply incised to further distort the figurative images. The lack of color serves to heighten our awareness of the shadowy, enigmatic landscape that has been created. less
