In 1959, the Corning Museum of Glass, along with some of the most esteemed art museums in the United States, put together an international glass exhibition to highlight and honor the state of the art in art glass technology and design. The decanter and beaker glasses designed by Kjell Blomberg for Gullaskrufs were featured in the Sweden section. (Reference pages 273 and 274 of the catalog) Glass cups can be stacked to further enhance the verticality of the decanter and to reinforce the Danish Modern tradition of maximizing space. Kjell Blomberg (1931–1989) was one of Sweden’s leading ceramic and glass artists in the 20th century. After his art studies at ”Konstfack” in Stockholm, he worked for Upsala–Ekeby, Gabriel Keramik, and Gullaskruf for more than 20 years. Kjell became a prominent designer of streamlined and elegant pieces – sometimes with a good sense of humor. His artistry is represented at the Swedish National Museum of Art and Design.
