This Andy Warhol Foundation rare vintage 1998 iconic lithograph print custom framed Pop Art poster " Princess Diana " 1982, is an incredibly special and unique piece to add to your collection.
The Pop Art poster print is published by Cambridge Arts Gallery, Ltd. England, printed in Germany in 1998 in an unnumbered limited edition of 500 on the occasion of an exhibition at The Peter Gwyther Gallery London. It is published with the licensed authorized rights of The Andy Warhol Foundation for Visual Arts. It features an iconic portrait artwork image originally created by Warhol in 1982 titled " Princess Diana ", courtesy Te Neues Publishing Company, New York.
This is a rare opportunity for true Andy Warhol and Princess Diana fans and collectors both as this coveted image Pop Art poster print is long out of print and very scarce to find. The official " AW " Foundation seal of authenticity os printed on the poster in the lower right bottom.
Andy Warhol ( 1928 - 1987 ) is one of the singularly most well known Contemporary artists of all time. His imagery is recognized worldwide. His infamous life, artworks, and creative endeavors are like no other artist. He is credited as the very first artist to use common everyday objects and view them in a completely different way while paying homage to their role in our society. Glorifying the common as the beautiful. His technique utilizing a silkscreen method combined with hand finishing in a signature palette of vibrant color hues make the work stand on its own and loved by millions.
Originally created in 1982 shortly after the marriage of Lady Diana Spencer to Prince Charles, the portrait of Princess Diana reflects Warhol's uncanny ability to select iconic, timeless images that embody the zeitgeist of an era. Many of Warhol's greatest images have grown more poignant with the passing of time, casting new meaning and significance upon their subjects lives. As is strikingly apparent in this portrait of Diana, depicting the young princess ages just twenty one has now become transformed by subsequent tragic events to embody the artist's dual fascination with celebrity and the fragility of life.
The rare out of print framed Pop Art poster measures 26 5/8" W X 26 3/4" H X 1 1/8" D. It is custom framed with UV protective plexiglass in a Contemporary Modern recessed beveled detailed matte eggshell finish black wood frame molding, with an attached hanging wire on the reverse back side for easy wall installation.
It is in excellent " like new " condition. The poster print is in excellent " like new " clean vintage condition consistent with age and light signs of handling.
