This Sonia Delaunay rare vintage 1979 Modernist lithograph print custom framed Paris exhibition poster " D'Apres Avec Moi-Meme, Eau-Forte " 1970, is an incredibly special and unique piece to add to your collection.
The lithograph print Modernist poster is published by The Centre Georges Pompidou Musee National D'Art Moderne, printed in France in 1979 in an unnumbered limited edition by DIGI-France on the occasion of the exhibition. It features an artwork image originally created by Delaunay in 1970 titled " D'Apres Avec Moi-Meme, Eau-Forte ".
Sonia Delaunay ( 1885 - 1979 ) born Sarah Llintchna Stern, was a Jewish Ukrainian born French artist, who spent most of her working life in Paris. She was formally trained in Russia and Germany before moving to France and expanding her practice to include textile, fashion, and set design. She co-founded The Orphism Art Movement, known for its strong use of colors and geometric shapes, with her husband and artist Robert Delaunay and others.
She was the first living female artist to have a retrospective exhibition at The Louvre Museum in Paris in 1964, and in 1975 was named an officer of The French Legion of Honor. Delaunay's work in Modern Design included the concepts of Geometric Abstraction, and the integration of furniture, fabrics, wall coverings, and clothing into her oeuvre of art practices.
The rare out of print framed Modernist exhibition poster print measures 18 3/4" W X 25 5/8" H X 1 3/8" D. It is custom framed with UV protective plexiglass in a Contemporary Modern matte brushed finish dark charcoal metal frame molding, with an attached hanging wire on the reverse back side for easy wall installation.
It is in excellent condition. The poster print is in excellent vintage condition consistent with age, light signs of handling, and very light age related wear in the lower bottom margin area.
