Chinese polychrome glazed porcelain seated Kuan Yin in the Lotus position on a pink and white lotus throne, afloat on … Read more Chinese polychrome glazed porcelain seated Kuan Yin in the Lotus position on a pink and white lotus throne, afloat on light blue ocean waves in front of a green rocky ledge. Her right and left hand are in Bhairava mudra, and are holding the gilded flask of the water of life, she is clothed in flowing red and white hooded robes of ornate gilded floral embellishment and wearing a necklace and the crown of Amitabha, and is endowed with the wisdom eye on her brow and the ushnisha. Exquisite finely sculpted realistic detail through out, down to the fingernails. A four character Tangshan City mark within double squares is incised on the unglazed base. She is displayed on a traditional finely carved Chinese hongmu kang table which is included. Circa mid century PRC.
