Slanting light enters the room from the viewer's left, illuminating part of the large desk at the center of the scene. Through the window, a few trees can be seen. On the far wall, there is a bulletin board and a bookshelf, both displaying signs of frequent usage. The desk holds a book, a cup of coffee, and a candle, among a few other objects. The scene is rendered in an illustrative style, giving the scene a comforting, familiar feel.

Signed and dated "M 91" in the lower right corner. (artist monogram is "MP", we also have a few digital examples of the artists signature from a portfolio of sketches) to be included.
Displayed in a gold colored frame with linen liner.
