This Andy Warhol rare vintage 1986 limited edition Endangered Species large fine art lithograph print " Orangutan " 1983, is an incredibly special and unique piece to add to your collection.
The fine art lithograph print is published by The Carnegie Museum of Art ( CMOA ) in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, the city of Warhol's birthplace. Printed in a series of limited edition color lithograph prints by the museum in 1986. The print is signed in the plate, hand numbered 420/2400 from the edition of 2400, CMOA stamp on the reverse back side. It features an artwork image originally created by Warhol in 1983 titled " Orangutan ".
Andy Warhol ( 1928 - 1987 ) is one of singularly most well known Contemporary artists of all time. His imagery is recognized worldwide. His infamous life, artworks, and creative endeavors are like no other artist. He is recognized as the very first artist to use common everyday objects and view them in a completely different way while paying homage to their role in our society. Glorifying the common as the beautiful. His technique utilizing a silkscreen method combined with hand finishing in a signature palette of vibrant color hues make the work stand on its own and loved by millions.
When the state of our planet and the fate of its inhabitants became a cause for alarm, Warhol created art works to reflect that concern. His 1983 " Endangered Species " portfolio represented a new subject matter for him. The complex and dazzling color combinations make the animal images so irresistibly beautiful that one cannot help becoming involved in the environmentalist message conveyed.
In The Endangered Species Portfolio Warhol created a series of artworks that portrayed endangered animals from around the world. using brilliant colors characteristic of his signature style, and poignant expressions suggest the animals fate, Andy created a dynamic tension between art and reality.
The rare out of print large lithograph print measures 23 5/8" W X 23 5/8" H. It is printed on high quality heavyweight paper stock with vibrant ink colors in a matte finish.
